Vegas Golden Knights Acquire First-Round Picks in PWHL Trade

The Vegas Golden Knights have made a significant move in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), acquiring two top-five draft picks in a sign-and-trade deal with the Detroit team. The trade, which was agreed to on June 8, saw the Golden Knights sign five-time U.S. Olympian Hilary Knight to a one-year contract. In exchange, the Golden Knights received Detroit's first-round pick, which will be the fifth overall selection, and the team's third overall pick. This move gives the Golden Knights two top-five picks in the upcoming PWHL draft, which is being held on Wednesday in Detroit. Las Vegas General Manager Dominique DiDia stated that having two picks in the first round of such a skilled draft class provides the opportunity to add two players who will make an immediate and lasting impact on the team. Hilary Knight, who is considered one of the most decorated players in women's hockey, will be joining the Detroit team. Knight finished last season with five goals and 14 points in 22 games with the Seattle team, but missed the final two months with a lower-body injury. The Golden Knights are looking to add talented players to their roster ahead of their inaugural season in the PWHL.
