Vegas Golden Knights Announce Mark Letestu as Assistant Coach

The Vegas Golden Knights announced Mark Letestu as their new assistant coach on June 30, 2026.

What happened?

Letestu previously served as head coach of the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles.

The Eagles had a record of 41-20-11 under Letestu and advanced to the Western Conference Final.

Why it matters for Vegas Golden Knights

Letestu's hiring brings valuable experience to the Golden Knights coaching staff, led by Head Coach Ryan Craig.

The remainder of the coaching staff will return for the 2026-27 NHL season.

The Golden Knights are currently 4th in the Western Conference with a 39-26 record, on a W3 streak.

What comes next?

Letestu's addition to the staff is expected to bolster the team's performance, following a loss to the Carolina Hurricanes 0-3 on June 15, 2026.

Prior to his coaching career, Letestu played 11 seasons in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets.

He played in a total of 567 NHL contests and produced 210 points, with 93 goals and 117 assists.

Letestu also earned time in 255 AHL contests during his playing career.

The native of Elk Point, Alberta, was signed as a free agent by Pittsburgh following one season at Western Michigan University.

The Golden Knights have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final three times and celebrate their 10th season as a franchise in 2026-27.
